Our gift to new zealand
a sustainable future
Pāua is the Māori name given to three species of large edible sea snails. Known around the world as abalone and in some cultures as "Black Gold". At Foveaux Pāua we grow Blackfoot Pāua (Haliotis Iris). These have distinctive black meat encased in a beautiful blue shell.
The ocean has provided nutritious seafood for generations, an essential part of our everyday diet. We’re driven to create sustainable ways to keep up with demand to support today's ever-growing population. Using the latest in science and technology, we can grow food from the ocean on land in large volumes without affecting the natural population.
Ocean Beach farmed pāua are raised in tanks, on land, in water directly from the clear waters of the Foveaux Strait.
